ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Harford men's basketball (7-15) team received a pair of double-doubles from its big men, but it wasn't enough to extend the season-best win streak to five games in a narrow 70-69 loss at St. Mary's on Thursday.
Freshmen forwards
Carlos Brown and
Tyler Campbell paced the Fighting Owl attack with their 10th and second double-doubles of the season. Brown exploded for 28 points and a career-high 19 rebounds. Campbell recorded his second double-double in as many contests with 14 points and 10 caroms.
Brown shot 14-for-20 from the floor while Campbell went 6-for-13, combining to shoot 60.6 percent (20-for-33). The rest of the team, however, shot just 22.4 percent from the field (11-for-49), including a dismal 1-for-8 performance from behind the arc.
Ka-Ron Richardson and
Roger Schuman tallied nine and seven points, respectively in the loss.
The Fighting Owls look to get back on track at Howard on Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader with the women's team.
