CATONSVILLE, Md.—The Harford men’s lacrosse team lost its second straight as it fell to No. 8 CCBC-Catonsville, 21-8, on Wednesday night at Catonsville.  The Fighting Owls (4-7, 0-1 MDJUCO) attack was bipolar for the duration of Wednesday night’s game, as Harford outplayed the Cardinals (5-5, 1-1 MDJUCO) in the third quarter, was edged by one goal in the first for an even 6-6 score in those periods, but were outscored 15-2 in the remaining two quarters.

Sophomore Chad Palmer (Fallston, Md./Fallston) led the attack unit, tallying five points (4g, 1a), while freshman Branden Kenny (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood), who made his first start, added another three goals.

Freshman Bryan Burrill (Forest Hill, Md./C. Milton Wright) tallied 17 saves for the Owls in the 60:00, while Martin Hyde led Catonsville on the night with six goals and four assists for a 10-point game.

The Owls saw themselves down by just one goal, 3-2, thanks to two consecutive goals at the 9:14 and 6:05 marks, but would fail to score in the second, while the Cardinals added eight goals of their own to take a commanding, 10-2 lead at the half.

Harford would outscore Catonsville 4-3 in the third quarter, which saw goals by Kenny, two by Palmer and one by freshman Jake Crenshaw (Hamilton, Md./North Harford), but Catonsville’s lead still stood at seven, 13-6, before the Cardinals tacked on an additional eight goals to Harford’s two in the final quarter (both by Kenny) on the way to the 21-8 victory.

The Fighting Owls return to action on Saturday when they host No. 5 Anne Arundel at Towson University for a 3:00 p.m. game.
