BEL AIR, Md.—The Harford men's lacrosse team snapped a three-game losing streak as it downed visiting Montgomery College-Rockville, 19-6, on Tuesday night at Harford Stadium.
Sophomore Chad Palmer (Fallston, Md./Fallston) had a career day for the Fighting Owls (5-8), totaling 11 points on the night. Palmer tied his season-high of seven goals and also added four assists, while freshmen Bryan Burrill (Forest Hill, Md./C. Milton Wright) and Lee Single (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) split time in goal, with Burrill allowing no goals and making one save and Single letting six by and totaling 10 saves.
Freshmen BJ Bello (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) and sophomore Alex Leadore (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) added their first season goals, with Bello tallying three and adding another assist and Leadore adding one goal.
Thomas Wescott and Jake Zouka each tallied two goals to lead the Knights (0-4) while goalkeeper Tim Hood made 20 saves in 62 shots faced.
Harford jumped on the board just 31 seconds into the first, as freshman Branden Kenny (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) connected off a pass from freshman Jake Crenshaw (Hamilton, Md./North Harford). The Owls would score twice more in the quarter and add another three goals in the second as they took a 6-0 lead over the Knights by the half.
Wescott would open up scoring in the third with an unassisted tally at the 14:18 mark that put Rockville on the board and began a combined 12-goal quarter. Harford would add eight goals, including four from Palmer, to Rockville's four to take a 14-4 lead after three quarters of play.
The Owls would build that lead to 12, 16-4 by the 14:00 mark in the fourth and would tack on three more while the Knights added two on the way to the 19-6 drubbing.
The Fighting Owls return to action on Thursday when they open a three-game roadstand by traveling to Brookdale for a 4:30 p.m. game.
