SCOTTSBORO, Ala.—Freshman Anthony Vincenti (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) maintained a slight lead over his teammates to finish with a team-best 232 (76, 78, 78) after three days of competition at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament at Goose Pond Colony.

Vincenti widened the gap to two strokes between him and sophomore Tony Tiburzi (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) who shot a 79 on Thursday for a three-day total of 234 (79, 76, 79), while the rookie leads sophomore Chris Appel (Abingdon, Md./Bel Air) by three after Appel carded a 78 on day three to put him at 235 (82, 75, 78) for the tournament.

All Fighting Owl players had at least one birdie on the day, with both Tiburzi and Appel notching two each.

Vincenti began the round with a 41 on the front nine, his worst start this week, but birdied the 15th for the second time in two rounds to finish with a week-best 37 on the back nine and currently sits in a tie for 73rd place.

Tiburzi also carded a week-worst 41 on the front nine even with a birdie on seven and, like his teammate, came back with a week-best 38 on the back with a  birdie on 15 to sit in a tie for 81st place.

Appel made it a trio of 41's on the front nine and tied his week-low of 37 on the back end thanks to birdies on holes 12 and 15 and is currently tied for 89th.

The Fighting Owls will conclude competition at the national championships on Friday as Appel tees off at 8:03 a.m., Tiburzi follows at 8:12 a.m. and Vincenti rounds out the team with a 9:15 a.m. start.
