Harford Sports Complex

4258

The Harford Sports Complex, formerly known as Thomas Run Park, is located on Harford's campus and serves as the home for the Harford baseball and softball teams as well as a community leagues.

Adjacent to Harford Stadium is Harford Baseball Field, the home of the Fighting Owls baseball team. The field was updated in 2014 by AstroTurf. The company installed AstroTurf Extreme Turf, the same turf at NCAA Division I schools like The Ohio State University, University of Indiana, Saint Joe's University and national powerhouse, Vanderbilt. The field includes a chocolate brown infield (where dirt is normally) with the grass having different shades to make it look like it was freshly mowed and striped.

The facility also features an upgrade with new in ground dugouts, a brick backstop with a single net and a batting cage. Fans will enjoy the new grandstands with press box feature in the near future. The field also features new fencing, including a 20-foot wall in left field, part of a unique design created by head coach Tom Eller.

The two other softball fields feature dirt infields and grass outfields as well as permanent dugouts for home and visiting teams. The fields are lighted with small press boxes and can seat 150 spectators each.

As per campus policy, service animals are the only dogs allowed on campus. Please refrain from any tobacco and alcohol products, as well.

The Harford Sports Complex is equipped with an advanced warning system for lightning installed for the safety of its patrons. The Thorguardian system continuously monitors the atmosphere's electrostatic energy as far away as 15 miles and evaluates the potential for lightning within an area approximately 2 miles in radius.

When the system determines a hazardous condition, the air-horns and strobe lights will activate. You will be warned by a horn that sounds for 15 seconds followed by a strobe light. The strobe light will remain flashing until a safe condition returns.

Upon activation of the system YOU MUST EVACUATE THE SPORTS COMPLEX, until the all clear is given by 3 five second horn blasts.

IF YOU DO REMAIN OUTDOORS AFTER THE WARNING IS ISSUED, YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK.
